Controversy Surrounds Tie

The Red Army tied Gerrell's last night 4-4. The Army started out sluggish and found themselves down 3-1 after the first frame. They battled back to take a 4-3 in the third. Gerrell's tied the game on a questionable penalty shot. Steve Palmiscno was whistled for throwing his stick. On the play Palmiscno was breaking into open ice and a pass from Todd Schumacher was just a bit in front of him. Palmiscno appeared to loose his stick as he was reaching for the puck. "I was using McMillan's back up stick, I wasn't used to the knob and the stick accidentally slipped out of my hand." Schumacher stated, "It is my fault, I thought Palmo was faster since he played division 1 hockey." Palmiscno snapped back, " Gilbertson has to make a save!" The other questionable goal was scored by Gerrell's on a non icing call. Referee, Derek Sheppard, went to blow the whistle for the infraction and then was distracted by George Gwazdecky swinging a stick in the crowd. Josh Cichy promptly pick up the puck and shoveled it into the open net. "I can't believe Sheppard can't even keep up with this league," Said Coach Terry Paukert. The playoffs start next week with a marquee first round match-up. The Red Army takes on the El Roco. The game is at 5:45 at the Eagles Arena.
